Horizontal Type Tool and Vertical Type
Tool : As
their name suggest, you can use one for horizontal type and the other for
vertical type. Just choose the tool and click on the workspace and start
writing. This would open a new layer in the layer palette for the typed text.

Horizontal Type Mask Tool and
Vertical Type Mask Tool :
These tools help you create selection shape of
the type you write. Then, you can use this selection and deal with it as a
normal selection.

Horizontal to Vertical Mode
The Typing
style: here you can choose a type from those you already have on your
system, and also define if you want it Bold, Italic, ect.
The font size:
here you can choose the font size, and it's measured by pt = points.
Anti-Aliasing Method: this is a down drop menu than you can choose
either None, Sharp, Crisp, Strong, or Smooth.
Alignment of
Text: you can align the text to the left
,
right,
or center
Change Text
Color: With this option you can change the color of the text simple by
clicking on this box and choosing a color. If after writing the text, you
wanted to edit the color, double click on the text to select it, then by
this option box you can change the color again.
Wrapping text:
after writing down your text, select it (double click on the text top be
highlighted) then click the wrap option. With this option you have many
preset styles that bend and shape your text Vertically or Horizontally.
